You will have time today to visit the Temple of Horus, the god with a falcon head and associated with the sky. Constructed as far back as 230 BC by Ptolemy III, this well-preserved vibrant structure enables the study of worship within the ancient Egyptian temple. After that, sail to Kom Ombo, then disembark to visit the Greco-Roman temple dedicated to Haroeris, the sun god, and Sobek, the crocodile god—both considered by some ancient Egyptians to be the creators of the world. Take a motorized boat to the Philae Temple, located on Agilika Island. It is dedicated to the goddess Isis and shows almost perfectly the mixture of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman architecture. View the granite quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk, which gives an idea of the quality of work undertaken by ancient Egypt's stonemasons. Visit Abu Simbel, the twin temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari—the stunning pair of temples dedicated to Ramses II and his beloved queen, Nefertari.
