Start your Dendera and Abydos from Marsa Alam when you meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel at Marsa Alam. You will start your Marsa Alam tours with one of the most beautiful Greco Roman temples in Egypt.
Dendera temple
The present temple was built by Ptolemy IX Soter II for the goddess Hathor but it is believed that the original temple dates back to Cheops. Also, Pepi I Meryre name was found in one of Dendera Crypts and Thutmose III from the New Kingdom added to that temple. In fact, the oldest part of Dendera temple now dates back to Nectanebo II from the 30th Dynasty, the Mammisi.
Dendera temple is very famous the cult center of Hathor and there are a lot to see such as Roman Birth Houses or Mammisi, Christian Basilica, Fourteen crypts, and goddess Nut chamber. Besides, The Isis temple, Sacred Lake, ancient Egyptian Calendar, Sanatorium, and Osiris room. Actually, Dendera was connect to Edfu temple during the beautiful feast of the reunion between Hathor and Horus of Edfu.

Abydos temple
After visiting one of the healing centers in ancient Egypt, you will visit another unique temple in Sohag, Abydos temple. Actually, Abydos is very famous as a burial place for the kings of the 1st, and 2nd Dynasties of ancient Egypt and it was a pilgrimage place during the Egyptian history. In fact, Abydos temple is famous for the 7 holy shrines of Isis, Horus, Ra-Horakhty, Osiris, Amun-Ra, Ptah, and Seti I. Also, the Abydos Kings List, Abydos Helicopter, and the very colorful carving cover the walls of the temple. Pharoah Seti started the temple and his son Ramesses II finished it and his nephew Merenptah added parts there.
While you are in Abydos, you will see the Osireion from outside and the temple of Ramesses II with the chance to add Shunet El Zebib against charge.
