Qaitbay Citadel | Fort Qaitbay

The Alexandria Citadel or the Qaitbay Citadel stands above the ruins of the ancient Alexandria lighthouse. In other words, on the eastern side of the northern tip of Pharos Island. The Citadel was built during the Reign of the Mameluke Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qaitbay in the 15th century. Unfortunately, it was damaged by a series of earthquakes between 956 and 1323.
